YOSA Classics I: Metamorphosis

About this event

- YOSA Philharmonic's Classics I: Metamorphosis launches YOSA's historic 50th season with a program showcasing transformation in music and in the musicians who play it.YOSA alumnus Ethan Gurwitz returns for the world premiere of a new orchestral work, Dances for Orchestra, he composed for YOSA, while acclaimed pianist and fellow graduate Christopher Guzman takes the stage as soloist in Gershwin's jazz-infused Concerto in F. The evening closes with Hindemith's dazzling Symphonic Metamorphosis, a vibrant reimagining of themes by Carl Maria von Weber that reshapes music of the past into a bold orchestral showpiece. As Gershwin and Hindemith reimagined musical traditions in their own time, YOSA alumni return to the stage transformed from students into artists shaping the future of music themselves. Featuring an appearance by YOSA Mariachi, past and present converge in a celebration of innovation, virtuosity, and 50 years of YOSA's enduring impact on San Antonio's musical community.Repetoire Includes:Gurwitz— Dances for Orchestra (world premiere)Gershwin-Piano Concerto in F majorHindemith-Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by WeberPlus an appearance by YOSA MariachiSubscription OffersBuild your season your way and save:YOSA 50th Anniversary Season – Save 25%: Includes all five Classics and Pops concerts for the most complete YOSA experience with the option to add on Showcase concerts.Purchase YOSA's 50th Anniversary Season SubscriptionClassics or Pops Only – Save 15%: Select either the Classics Series or Pops Series and enjoy a curated season tailored to your musical tastes.Purchase A Classics SubscriptionPurchase a Pops SubscriptionShowcase Package – Save 10%: Add-on to the YOSA 50th Anniversary Season subscription or available as a standalone package showcasing the breadth of YOSA’s orchestrasPurchase A Showcase Subscription
