About this event
Embarcadero Room. How did a collection of short-story memoirs from the corporate world turn into a full-fledged career-planning book? Join author Korie Pelka for an open, interactive presentation on her wild, nonlinear path to publication. She’ll pull back the curtain on how she discovered her voice, pinpointed her target reader, and clarified the impact she wanted her book to make. Expect real talk on all the foibles and missteps along the way—and how you can avoid them in your own journey. Korie Pelka holds a B.F.A. and M.A. in theater directing, which served her well during her 25-year career as a communications professional in Silicon Valley. In 2015 she left the corporate world to discover her own voice in her “third act.” Today she is a certified career coach who has helped hundreds of clients navigate meaningful career transitions. Her book, Get Unstuck. Get Clear. Get Going. A Guide to Discovering the Next Stage in Your Career Journey, is a business career-planning book that provides an actionable framework for confidently navigating what's next in your life and career. Korie chronicles her third-act journey and her avid quest for the perfect gelato on her website www.koriepelka.com. California Writers Club-San Francisco Peninsula Branch members share their expertise on writing, editing, marketing, publishing and more. Writers Helping Writers resumes for their fourth year on the third Thursday of these months: October 15 January 21 March 18 May 20 Registration is not required, but if you register, you'll receive an email reminder the day before the event.
