Write at CPL: Going Deep on Point of View

Join other aspiring authors this fall for Write at CPL, a series of workshops presented by our partners at Story Studio. This workshop will focus on Going Deep on Point of View and is led by Serena Simpson. Point of View (POV) is the position/lens from which the narrative is told. POV is one of the most essential building blocks of narrative. It determines all the other possibilities for sharing a narrative with the reader. POV heavily influences structure at both the micro and macro levels. Together, we will explore how access shifts the story and what happens when POV changes mid-scene. Serena Simpson is a writer from Chicago, IL. She has published essays in Barrelhouse and Ninth Letter. Her work frequently explores memory, place, and their overlap, interstices, and interplay. Serena won the Guild Complex’s 2018 Leon Forest Prose Award for nonfiction, was named a 2019 Tin House Scholar, awarded the 2020 Disquiet Prize for nonfiction, and selected as a 2021 Sewanee Nonfiction Scholar.
