Winter Traditions

Deschutes Public Library is excited to bring together an afternoon of local community organizations and culture groups to share their Winter Traditions with the Central Oregon community. Please join us as we gather to connect and celebrate those who live, work, and play in our community. Interactive activities, culture shares, music and demonstrations will take place throughout the afternoon. About the Presenters: Benditas creates cultural spaces in Spanish where the community can celebrate and share the diversity and artistic richness of the various Spanish-speaking countries that are represented in Bend and throughout Deschutes County. Christi & Gonzalo are Peruvian visual artists and educators who graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Peru. Their work explores themes such as memory, migration, technology, and ancestral knowledge. They have exhibited in Peru, Ecuador, Spain, and the United States, and are actively involved in community and collective projects. JASCO strengthens the community by educating present and future generations about the evolving Japanese American experience in Central Oregon. They do this through cultural exploration and opportunities for connection. Their work is guided by the values found in their Japanese American traditions. Kolovita creates spaces where Ukranian culture, creativity, and community come together. Through culturally rooted arts, storytelling, intergenerational learning, and community partnerships, Kolovita brings living traditions into contemporary community life and creates opportunities for people of different backgrounds to learn, participate, and connect. LCA empowers Latino families to thrive, creating opportunities for advancement and building bridges that unite and strengthen the community as a whole. They envision a cohesive and diverse community where all people are valued and empowered to participate and contribute to the health and prosperity of Central Oregon. Questions? Please contact…
