Wine Country in Late Fall

Photograph the Colors and Stillness of Napa & Sonoma in Late Fall Saturday, November 14th · 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM Limited to 6 participants By mid-November, Sonoma County begins to exhale. The harvest is over, the crowds are gone, and the landscape settles into a slower rhythm. Vines still hold onto their last golds and reds, oak woodlands glow with rusty leaves, and the coastal light softens into rich, moody tones. This small-group workshop explores the backroads and vineyard valleys of western Sonoma during this beautiful transition. You’ll photograph historic farm buildings, quiet country roads, vineyards in late-season color, and the natural landscape—forests, hills, and maybe even hints of fog. We’ll focus on a single region to maximize time in the field and work with whatever light and weather the day gives us. * ### What You’ll Learn ✔ How to capture late-season color and atmosphere ✔ Techniques for photographing in soft, low-angle fall light ✔ Using histograms and filters to balance highlights and shadows ✔ Improving sharpness, exposure, and composition ✔ Finding emotion and story in quiet, rural scenes ### Workshop Details Meet-Up: Start at Lance’s studio in Petaluma (carpooling available), or join us along the route Location Focus: Vineyards, backroads, farm buildings, hills, and forests in western Sonoma 📅 Date: Saturday, November 14th ⏰ Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM 💰 Cost: $150 👟 Fitness Level: Easy – all locations near the road; minimal walking 🚻 Facilities: Available every 1–2 hours ☕ Break: Stop mid-afternoon for snacks and drinks Included: ✅ Hands-on instruction throughout the day ✅ Post-workshop map of our photo stops ✅ Optional carpooling from Petaluma Not Included: ❌ Snacks and drinks (please bring your own) ❌ Transportation (aside from carpooling) Join us for a quiet, inspiring afternoon of photography in Sonoma’s late fall light—when color lingers, shadows…
