About this event
Join us to celebrate the artists who contributed to the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium, now on display in the temporary exhibition Wild Beauty. The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium captures the intimate details of the beautiful wild plants of a beloved local treasure. This compendium of 111 watercolor illustrations was created by artists of the Minnesota School of Botanical Art, founded by Marilyn Garber and active 2001-2025. The project reclaims a centuries-old form to highlight a special, public place that’s important today. It carries on a tradition of botanical illustration that brings together art and science to create accurate, yet expressive, depictions of living plants. Refreshments will be served, and the Bell-produced, temporary exhibition Wild Beauty: The Botanical Art of the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium will be open for viewing. This is an in-person event at the Bell Museum and is included in the cost of regular admission.
