WHYY Bridging Blocks: Ableism & Accessibility
WHYY Bridging Blocks: Ableism & Accessibility at Cherry Hill Public Library in Cherry Hill, NJ on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
Please register on WHYY’s site here. More than 70 million adults in the United States reported having a disability in 2022, according to the latest CDC data. Accessibility, or the lack thereof, remains a major concern nationally and locally. It extends beyond physical spaces to include access to information, communication, and essential services. Navigating ableism through microaggressions or overt discrimination, can be challenging for people living with a disability. How does South Jersey show up for its residents with disabilities, including those facing literacy-related barriers? What services exist, and where are the gaps? How did we get here, and how do we move forward to build a community where information, opportunity, and independence are accessible to everyone? Join WHYY News Community & Engagement team for ‘Bridging Blocks,’ a civic dialogue series in partnership with The Free Library of Philadelphia.
