About this event
Join a friendly, beginner conversation on the current state of AI and where we might be headed. You’ll come away with enough information to build your own opinion about AI. After the screening, we’ll have a facilitated discussion so you can weigh in with your own thoughts, concerns, and hopes. This event will be facilitated by Andres Ramirez, Director of Partnerships @ AI Safety Awareness Project. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Andres has been living in Chicago for the past 25 years. His past experience in tech sales helped him build a communications skillset - now, he works to educate the public about AI safety and risk in accessible language. AI companies are racing to build systems that can improve themselves, even though they admit that they have zero confidence in being able to control them. We’ll watch a video and learn together, then discuss our opinions. Journalist Ezra Klein explains the recent HuggingFace incident, and how this might be a warning shot that the public should pay attention to. You’ll come away with a better understanding of AI and develop your own ideas about this transformational technology.
