White Rock Hills & La Madre Springs Loop

Please note: This hike is also part of the ongoing Trail Ready Series, where participants are now applying what they've learned during their training under real trail conditions. These are regular group hikes, open to all VegasHikers members. (IWe are crossposting this event with LVHikers) Hike #6 La Madre Springs/White Rock Hills Loop is a moderately difficult adventure in Red Rock Canyon that follows a well-graded trail leading to a picturesque spring fed by an aquifer. The trail offers steady elevation gain, winding through rugged desert terrain with views of steep-sided mountains and towering sandstone cliffs that showcase the area’s raw natural beauty. This is a loop hike: we’ll begin at Mile Marker 6 inside the Red Rock fee area and complete the loop, returning to the original trailhead parking lot. Expect varied terrain and ascension. HIKE QUICK STATS: • Trailhead: Keystone Thrust/White Rock Mtn Road (mile marker 6) • Distance: ≈8 miles • Elevation gain: ≈1,700 ft • Difficulty/pace: moderate/strenuous • Class: 1 • Exposure: none • Duration: 7 hours (includes driving and tailgating) • No guests, children, canines, or event crashers, please! • All attendees must be members of VegasHikers. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up, and it's FREE. GEAR: Backpack Hiking shoes; approach shoes are helpful No trekking poles 2L of water, sun protection, snacks & electrolytes. Everything I Need Before I Arrive Please arrive between 6:00 and 6:15 am. CARPOOLS: We will meet at the Red Rock Hotel, West parking garage, 4th floor, section 4D, near the ramp to form carpools.
