West Rock Ridge State Park is located in New Haven, Hamden, and Woodbridge, Connecticut. The park includes a 7-mile (11 km) Regicides Trail, part of the Connecticut Forest and Park Association's Blue Trail system. There’re also lakes, a cave, and a colonial era historic site. We will start this hike at the southern end where there’s an overlook with incredible views of New Haven and Long Island Sound on a clear day. You get there by going through the West Rock Ridge State Park entrance off Wintergreen Avenue in New Haven. Follow the signs up the hill to the large parking lot at the South Overlook (about 1.2 miles). This hike will include a rugged cliff-walk along a ridgeline with spectacular views of multiple lakes and busy highways below. **There is a two (+) mile stretch, that includes a lot of rock-hopping ankle-breaker rocks that tend to slow you down.** Please arrive ten to fifteen minutes early because we plan to start promptly at the time listed.
