# **WEST COAST SWING — BEGINNING–INTERMEDIATE COURSE** ### **8-Week Group Class** **SUNDAYS at 4:00 PM** **Begins Sunday, October 18, 2026** **8 consecutive Sundays at 4:00 PM** *We will skip Sunday, November 29th, in observance of Thanksgiving.* ### **COST** **$119 per person — 8 weeks** **$238 for 2 students/couple — 8 weeks** ### **CLASS LEVEL: BEGINNING → INTERMEDIATE** This 8-week group class is designed to **start at the beginning level and gradually build toward an intermediate level**. We’ll begin with the fundamentals and progressively add more steps, patterns, technique, connection, and styling as the weeks go on. **No partner is required!** We regularly rotate partners throughout the class, giving everyone the opportunity to dance with different people. ### **👞👠 SHOES & CLOTHING** Wear clothing that is comfortable and suitable for dancing and moving. Please bring a **clean, dry change of shoes that have not been worn outside** to help protect the dance floor. If you don't have dance shoes yet, **dress shoes are a good option**. Typical tennis shoes are not recommended because they can stick to the dance floor and make it difficult to pivot and turn. ### **WHAT IS WEST COAST SWING?** **West Coast Swing** is a partner dance with roots in Lindy Hop. It is characterized by an elastic look created through its extension-and-compression connection and is typically danced within a slotted area on the floor. One of the unique features of West Coast Swing is its emphasis on **improvisation**. Both partners can improvise their movements while maintaining connection and dancing together, allowing the dance to look different every time.
