Deadline to Register: October 13th at 5:00pm Title: Weekday Series: Stained Glass Autumn Openwork Description: Celebrate the beauty of autumn by making a stained glass circular openwork panel. We will use stained glass for the leaves and sculpt wire to form the branches. This artwork is fun to construct! Beginners are very welcome! Instructor: This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principle Instructor, Karen Reed. Karen Reed (Earthstar Glass) has been an art glass professional for over 40 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries, was requested for Christmas display at The White House, and is carried in galleries in several states. She has been a published, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years. She has also written for: International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass, Glass Art, Fired Arts, The Crafts Report and the e-magazine artglassinfo.com Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work and she has previously taught at folk schools in nine states including John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC, Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and The Appalachian Center for Craft. She had been at Burritt Folk School for the last six years. Locally, her work is available in Josie’s Gift Shop at Burritt on the Mountain and in The Huntsville Art League (Lowe Mill) Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear closed-toed shoes.
