Deadline to Register: August 29 at 5:00pm Title: Ceramics: “Impression Dish” Description: Unleash your creativity with a mesmerizing slab technique that captures the delicate beauty of lace, leaves, or unique textures right into soft clay before transforming it into a stunning dish or shallow bowl. While it is a wonderful way to preserve intricate patterns, the artistic possibilities are truly endless. Students will return to glaze their pieces on Sunday, September 13. (If you are not able to return to glaze your pieces, your instructor can apply the glaze of your choice.) Instructor: Paul Wieland has been making wheel-thrown pottery for over 15 years and has taught at multiple pottery studios throughout the region. He studied ceramics under Tom Marsh at the University of Louisville and was a co-founder of the Tennessee Valley Ceramic Arts Guild (TVCAG). He has demonstrated pottery-making at the Burritt Museum Folklife Festival for several years. He has also exhibited his work at Lowe Mill in Huntsville and in Atlanta, GA. You may see examples of Paul’s work on his website, Nascent Pottery. Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear close-toed shoes. Time: Saturday, September 5 (3:00-5:00pm) and Glazing Session Sunday, September 13 (1:00-3:00) Tuition: $40.00 Supply Fee: $5.00 Level: All Levels ~~~~~~ Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials.
