Viroqua Area Schools Referendum Feedback Forum

Blackhawk Community Coffee: Residents of the Viroqua community will vote on a non-recurring operational referendum question for Viroqua Area Schools on Tuesday, November 3rd. If approved, our district will be able to exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $1.8 million annually over four years, beginning in 2027-28 and ending in 2030-31. This is an additional $500,000 over the current $1.3 million operational referendum that will expire at the end of the 2026-27 school year. VAS has relied on operational referendums since 2004 for many purposes – from maintaining academic programs and extracurricular activities, to addressing minor building projects and retaining staff members. Without these funds, the district would face the possibility of further budget cuts. Join VAS for Blackhawk Community Coffee on Tuesday, October 20th at Viroqua Food Co-op between 7:30 and 9:00 am. This is an opportunity for community members to learn more about the referendum, ask questions, and share insight. More information, including a property tax calculator, can be found at https://www.vasreferendum.org.
