About this event
Hear instruments of history sing again. This program features violins from Violins of Hope, the collection owned and restored by Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein. Played by musicians during the Holocaust, these instruments survived concentration camps, ghettos, and carry on the legacies of the original talented musicians journeys. The program opens with Gideon Klein’s Partita for String Orchestra, a vibrant and expressive work full of rhythmic energy. Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1, and featuring Eddie Sundra, is a dazzling showcase of virtuosity and lyrical brilliance. Discover Alexandre Tansman’s spirited Sinfonietta No. 1 and Mieczysław Weinberg’s Suite for Small Orchestra, a richly characterful work filled with contrast and color. Conducted by Hae Lee. Presented in collaboration with Virginia Holocaust Museum & Weinstein Jewish Community Center.
