About this event

In this class, the instructor will walk you through the many features of Ancestry's website, including its extensive database collections covering vital and church records (births, marriages, and deaths), census and voter lists, court records, military records, immigration and naturalization records, land records, newspapers, directories, and maps. Ancestry is the world's largest online genealogy database, with over 65 billion records across 33,880 databases spanning 88 countries, 140 million family trees, over 500 million photos, and 27 million DNA tests. The instructor will compare the Library Edition with the various home subscription plans and their different pricing tiers. The class will also cover Ancestry's family tree tools, family histories, photo collections, and its extensive learning library of genealogy articles and videos. The instructor will additionally touch on Ancestry's Academy, a paid section offering supplemental video courses. Ancestry features a collaborative message board community with posts dating back to 1991, where genealogists connect with potential cousins and share research. For those needing additional help, Ancestry also offers access to professional genealogists for a fee. Handouts will be provided!
