Using AI in the Classroom: Considering and Navigating GenAI in Online Classes: Evolving Ideas and Strategies Presented by Meagan Malone, PhD Description: While Generative AI offers clear potential benefits for teaching and learning, research and experience confirm that it often creates problems that compromise the value of online education. This workshop explores the challenges of teaching asynchronous online courses in the age of GenAI, offering research-based strategies for holding students accountable for their learning while honestly acknowledging the limits of what individual instructors can do in this still-evolving moment. Please Note: This workshop is designed for current UAB teaching faculty, instructors of record, academic advisors, and other student-facing staff members. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are invited to attend the CTL LIFT series workshops instead. Total CTL Point Value: 10,000 pts.
