About this event
In observance of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, UPRISING/DOWNFALL is a public examination of historic milestones of democracy in 20th-century America, with a focus on social movements that upheld Constitutional freedoms and human rights, and state activity that repressed them. Based on the model of BPL’s 2019’s 'Til Victory is Won: 400 Years of Making Revolution and Inventing Utopia, this teach-in features authors, historians, activists, policy experts and journalists who look back on the history of Americans’ continuous struggles for equal rights, disability rights and other grass-roots efforts to resist state-sponsored oppression.
