Uphill Skiing at Mohawk Mountain, CT (alpine touring)

Registration is on the link below https://activities.outdoors.org/s/oc-activity/a5UVX000001IwzR2AS/act00023849 If you’re a downhill skier with your own alpine touring ski setup, we’ll be offering a season warmup at Mohawk Mountain, conveniently located in northwestern Connecticut. Mohawk has an Uphill Route that skiers can access for free during operating hours. First-timers can ask questions and get familiar with their gear and how to use it, while more advanced ski tourers can meet the gang, get some laps in, and make plans for this winter's adventures. We plan to offer a variety of backcountry ski touring outings in February and March, and perhaps into April. The leaders will need to create groups of similar abilities for these outings, to maximize the fun! This outing is also open to snowboarders who have a ‘splitboard,’ which is a board that comes apart and has touring bindings and removable climbing skins for ‘skinning up.’ Splitboarders will need to have at least a little experience skiing (on two skis) so they can maneuver their splitboard on the way up and on the flats. Snowshoeing is not permitted at Mohawk Mountain ski resort. \\\\YOU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT GEAR FOR THIS ACTIVITY\\\\ Please note that this IS NOT a ‘cross country’ ski outing. Fish-scale based skis are not suitable for this activity. This outing will take place in a downhill ski resort with chair lifts, downhill slopes, and fast, groomed snow. Please make sure you have the required skills and equipment for this activity. If Mohawk experiences rain or…
