Inline Skaters and (Quad) Roller Skaters are welcome to join on this skate. Cyclists are welcome by following the skate group. Advanced Beginners Skate (6:30 pm) for those who can brake and skate with confidence and are ready to improve their skills. Ability to skate small hills and some street traffic. Skate lasts about 1 1/2 hours. Skate route is generally from Shadyside to Oakland, passing by Pitt and CMU campuses and other surrounding areas like Highland Park, East Liberty and Bloomfield. Regular season weekly Wednesday Start and Stop Skate Lessons Clinic in Shadyside. This is for new and beginner level skaters and those wanting to improve their skating and braking abilities. FREE Lessons will be conducted from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. All skaters taking lessons are required to provide their own skates and helmet, with wrist guards, knee and elbow pads recommended. This skate is patrolled and will have an assigned skate leader and blockers. Helmets and wrist guards are required as a minimum on all skates. DISCLAIMER: Even if you do not join the club, please be advised that TRIC strongly recommends that all participants in TRIC sponsored events (including its weekly city skates) should carry medical and liability insurance and should wear protective gear (i.e., helmet, wrist guards, kneepads, elbow pads, and, at night, reflective clothing and blinking lights).
