About this event

#### Tolton: From Slave To Priest Film screening at Emagine Royal Oak **In the face of the shameful prejudice of the Church in America in 1860s, young Augustus dreams of becoming a Catholic priest. His dream seems hopeless, yet against all odds he perseveres. Finally ordained in Rome, he returns home to Missouri to serve people of all races as America’s first Black priest.** Film synopsis [HERE](https://toltonmovie.com/) from St Luke Productions. [St Luke Productions](https://www.stlukeproductions.com/) has been a favorite of mine for their stage performances. Since COVID, they moved to film production, with no loss of the integrity and gritty emotion that are the stories of Catholic Saints. **Wikipedia biography**: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_Tolton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_Tolton) I will arrive early and gnab a row in the middle of the theater based on RSVPs.
