To Kill a Mockingbird

Our first Volunteer of the Month pick for November comes courtesy of Curtis, who has chosen To Kill a Mockingbird, the 1962 classic starring Gregory Peck! Scout Finch, 6 years old, and her older brother Jem live in sleepy Maycomb, Alabama, spending much of their time with their friend Dill and spying on their reclusive and mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. When Atticus, their widowed father and a respected lawyer, defends a black man named Tom Robinson against fabricated rape charges, the trial and tangent events expose the children to evils of racism and stereotyping.\ Based on Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, it’s a powerful story of standing up for what’s right…even when the odds are stacked against you.
