About this event
Third Thursdays at the PMA is Art for All! On the third Thursday of every month, the PMA offers free admission all day and evening for all. Explore the galleries, enjoy family-friendly art-making and activities, or experience a dynamic lineup of rotating music, food trucks, films, performances, and programs. Museum Playdates 10:00 AM — 12:00 PM Our educator-led experiences are designed for our youngest visitors and their adults in mind. Every gathering has its own theme, with gallery adventures, art projects, storytime, and family activities—plus free coffee and a chance for caregivers to connect with others. The Art of Intaglio Printmaking: Live Demonstrations 2:00 PM — 7:00 PM Discover the printmaking process behind the exhibition Winslow Homer: Painter, Etcher. Printmaker Winslow Trainum demonstrates the art of intaglio printmaking, inking an etched copper plate, wiping it by hand, and running it through a traditional press to reveal an image transferred from plate to paper. Drop-in Mobile Making with ArtVan 3:00 PM — 7:00 PM Join ArtVan’s teaching artists for a drop-in mobile-making activity using mixed media and spiral-cutting techniques. This relaxed, hands-on experience encourages presence and experimentation, with each participant creating a mandala mobile to take home. Concerts on Congress with Tall Heights 5:00 PM — 6:00 PM Tall Heights performs a free, all ages outdoor set in the David E. Shaw Sculpture Park Third Thursday. This event is part of Concerts on Congress, presented by The Portland Museum of Art, State Theatre, Friends of Congress Square Park, One Longfellow Square, and Portland Downtown.
