For decades he has hosted and produced popular shows throughout the area, working with many of the region’s greatest artists at all of the finest venues. For 26 years he has been the musical partner of Erin Schwab, the “Bette Midler of the Twin Cites”. He has served as music director for the Governor’s Inauguration Ball, the US Foods National Awards Ball, the Basilica of Saint Mary Annual Fund Raiser, Children’s MN, and many more. For 27 years Jay was the Music Theory Department Head at the former McNally Smith College of Music. James A. Rocco is an award-winning Broadway and recording artist whose career has taken him from Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center to concert halls, jazz clubs, and theatres around the world. Best known for his work in CATS and The Wizard of Oz, and nationally for Jesus Christ Superstar, Singin' in the Rain, and Into the Woods, he has shared the stage with artists including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Darlene Love, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Named Twin Cities Vocalist of the Decade, Rocco brings powerhouse vocals, humor, soul, and personal storytelling to every performance.
