The Undergroove band at Lake Harriet Bandshell - Fri, August 28th

FREE. Music starts at 7:30 PM. I'll be there by 6:30 PM. Come early, before the music begins, for introductions and conversation. The Undergroove band was formed after a great bass player from the funk era, the 70s, decided that it was overdue to resurrect the music that put the U.S. on the map as a dance capital of popular music. Self-descriptors: funk, soul, rock-n-roll; country, rhythm & blues, jam band, influenced by Sly Stone, Doobie Brothers, Janis, Jimi, and CCR. I've heard them in person once before and I liked them. Big Mike Mothershed sang with them during that performance but that isn't a sure thing, as I understand it. I'll be dancing to many of their songs. Feel free to join in or not, with or without a partner. It's typically a fun group-dance happening at Lake Harriet. Parking: Pay parking in nearby lots. I can usually find a free spot on the street on the neighborhood just to the west of the bandshell area on Queen Ave S. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, water, cash *and* credit card (both is best) for parking, or food. You *might want to bring an umbrella* in case a passing rain shower pops up. Mosquito repellant may or may not be needed, but probably not (your guess is as good as mine). I use ear plugs when dancing near the band (your call, of course).
