About this event
This event is suitable for everyone ages 8+. All children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. In this fun, beginner-friendly workshop, artists will paint a sweet, modern still life inspired by the work of Wayne Thiebaud—famous for his vibrant cakes, pies, and candy paintings. Using acrylic paint and impasto techniques, participants will build rich texture and bold color to create their own "frosted" masterpiece. Artists will explore palette knife painting (just like spreading icing!) along with playful color mixing and composition, while creating a dessert-themed artwork that looks almost good enough to eat. Each participant will leave with a delicious-looking painting—and enjoy a sweet treat during the workshop for a little extra inspiration! About the Instructor: Anastasia Zielinski is a multidisciplinary artist, arts educator, and owner of FREAK’N ART, a community studio in Bend, Oregon. She earned her BFA from Pratt Institute and has exhibited nationally and internationally, including site-specific installations for INSCAPE Arts, Shunpike’s Storefront Seattle, Spaceworks Tacoma, and CLAVO. She has participated in residencies with Casa Lü, eeeee, and New Pacific Studio, and received the 2023 Jerry Goldstein Foundation Award. In 2026, she curated Nourish, a benefit auction for Family Kitchen in Bend, Oregon, and presented the solo exhibition Discovering Home at Cindy and Duncan Campbell Gallery in Sisters, Oregon.
