About this event
The Salem Witch Trials are a dark and complicated time in American history. Influenced by the toils and troubles of the time, Puritan New Englanders turned on friend and foe alike accusing them of the crime of witchcraft. Barret Reich, Reference Librarian, will explore the beginnings of Salem and examine maps that show viewers the world of the early English settlers. Sara Rebstock, Reference Librarian, will delve into the timeline of the Salem witch trials, key players in the events, and some of the factors that are believed to have caused the craze amongst the villagers. Ramona Elder, Genealogy Librarian, will show the genealogical records of some of the accused, exploring the documentation to uncover any historical narratives that further tell their stories. This class is free and open to the public. Seating space is limited to adults. Registration is required. The library welcomes people of all abilities to programs.
