The Rick Hirsch 5

Longtime State College-based and nationally-regarded saxophonist Rick Hirsch fronts this dynamic jazz quintet. You’ll hear them play classic tunes by Horace Silver, Ahmad Jamal, Nat Adderley and Art Blakey, as well as Hirsch’s award-winning originals. Hirsch will be joined by Central PA’s finest, all of whom are highly accomplished musicians: bassist Joshua Davis is Penn State’s director of Jazz Studies, the Rev. Dr. Kevin Lowe is everyone’s favorite drummer(!), George Carpten is the Penn State Trumpet professor, and Clay Wulbrecht is a pianist whose imagination and chops know no limits. This will be a great show in the cozy confines of Allen Street!
