Carl Theodor Dreyer Starring Renée Falconetti, Antonin Artaud Renée Falconetti portrays Joan of Arc during her heresy trials, delivering what critic Pauline Kael called “the greatest performance in cinema.” Dreyer’s drama of martyrdom and transcendence is not just a silent-era masterpiece, but one of cinema’s greatest achievements. This screening will be presented with a live score performed by accompanist Rasaan Hakiem. This screening is presented in conjunction with a Cinema Classics Seminar taught by Jennifer Fleeger, Ph.D. Seating for screening-only attendees will begin at 7:00 pm.
