About this event
Insect populations are declining globally at a rapid rate due to many factors, including the loss of nectar and breeding habitat, and pesticide use. What can you do at home or in your community to support insects and their vital functions in our urban ecosystems? Natalie Melkonoff, Plant and Insect Ecology Program Manager at Desert Botanical Garden, will discuss monarch butterflies and other insects, and how to create habitat that supports them. Learn how you can participate in a science initiative to monitor plants and butterflies in your own community! Join us at Hamilton Library for this exciting event and an opportunity to win a milkweed plant to take home! Brought to you by Chandler Nature Center and Chandler Library, The Nature of Things is a conversation series featuring contemporary topics in science, conservation and the natural world around us. If you are interested in local ecosystems, as well as Arizona's cultural and natural heritage, this speaker series is for you!
