Inspired by Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner, he puts fresh twists on familiar tunes ranging from the Great American Songbook to Pixar, Super Mario, and John Williams. Steve Pikal, a former trombonist with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, taught himself double bass ands become one of the Twin Cities’ most in-demand players, known for his joyful slap style of playing. Nathan Norman is a first-call Twin Cities drummer who has performed with legends like Doc Severinsen and Delfeayo Marsalis.
