About this event
Join us for "The Living Legacies of The Exiles of Florida,” an exploration of a forgotten abolitionist text. Historian William Hustwit and archaeologist Uzi Baram will discuss the impact of Joshua Reed Giddings’ 1858 book The Exiles of Florida. An unflinching account of the Seminole Wars and the southern Underground Railroad, Giddings’s work remains a powerful catalyst for discussion today. Part of the America 250 speaker series, this event is free and open to the public.
