Formed in 2010, the band quickly rose through the local music scene, selling out shows and touring nationally as their reputation spread. Frontwoman Jelly leads with a rare blend of innocence and ferocity, delivering performances that are both raw and magnetic. Guitarist Eric Mitchell and bassist Chris Reifsteck provide the backbone of the band with groovy riffs and soulful tones that drive the sound forward. The band’s original lineup also included drummer and founding member Paul Solem, whose powerful presence helped shape The Jelly Project’s identity until his passing from cancer in 2024. At their peak, The Jelly Project became one of the most sought-after rock acts in the Twin Cities. Highlights from this era include multiple sold-out shows, national tours, a performance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, winning a Battle of the Bands in 2015, and gaining notoriety for challenging the status quo of local radio media. In 2016, the band went on hiatus as members shifted focus toward families and new careers. Following the loss of Paul Solem in 2024, the remaining founding members—Jelly, Eric, and Chris—have felt a renewed calling to honor the band’s legacy.
