Location: Wasmer Art Gallery. The History of the United States, Vol. I & II, 1774 – 1844 Wasmer Art Gallery This exhibition features two portfolios of prints inspired by the history of the United States from 1774 to 1844. Each participating artist was assigned a year and asked to choose an event or idea representative of that year. Some are well known events while others are more obscure, expanding on the depth and understanding on the origins of the United States as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The chronological display of prints throughout the gallery offers a walk through time and history through the eyes of the participating artists. This will be the first time these prints are on view at FGCU. The exhibition is made possible through the generous gift of these portfolios by Peter Massing to the FGCU Art Galleries’ Permanent Collection.
