The History Lake James:...

Join us at Lake James State Park for “The History of Lake James: From Native Lands to Modern Recreation.” This program explores the rich cultural and historical timeline of the settlement and development of Lake James, from the Indigenous tribes who first lived along the banks of the rivers, to the development of hydroelectric generation that created the lake as we know it, and finally to today’s recreational opportunities within the state park and surrounding area. It’s a great way to learn how the landscape and its uses have transformed over time while enjoying the natural beauty of Lake James.
