**It was the dawn of Rock n’ Roll. The Rhythm & Blues of the early 50s transitioning into RnR and Western Swing into Rockabilly. The music of Fats Domino, Little Richard, the Platters and countless others led the way.** **Directed by Frank Tashlin (best known for directing Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis movies), The Girl Can’t Help It, is a comedy, featuring the first leading role for Miss Jane Mansfield, loosely wrapped around 19 full length musical performances. Besides the previously mentioned R&B legends, new artists like Gene Vincent, Julie London, and Eddie Cochran are also featured.** **The Girl Can’t Help It is playing at the beautifully restored AFI Silver Theatre in downtown Silver Spring. Showtime is 4:30 and we will meet in the lobby outside Theater 2 around 4:10 if you want to sit together.
