The Four Seasons – Toledo Symphony

About this event

Two composers, two cities, and four seasons heard through very different musical voices. Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons brings scenes of spring birds, summer storms, autumn harvest celebrations, and winter frost to life through brilliant violin writing. Its famous “Winter” movement has inspired everything from high-speed action scenes to glittering diamond ads, its icy violin lines racing with restless energy. Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires answers with the pulse of tango, where sharp rhythms and sultry melodies evoke the streets and nightlife of Argentina’s capital. Violinist Blake Pouliot leads the orchestra from the concertmaster chair in a program that moves from baroque elegance to the heat and energy of modern Buenos Aires.
