The documentary challenges the human-centric view of the planet, noting that while humans often deconstruct landscapes to suit their own needs, over 98% of the living world on Earth is actually smaller than a bee. The film highlights how these small creatures are essential to the natural systems that sustain the food web. “The Extraordinary Caterpillar” follows a group of scientists and community activists to provide a rare look into the dazzling, often overlooked world of these insects.
