About this event
The Exorcist is the next film up in our Art House of Horrors: Presented by MUBI series! When young Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair) begins exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior, her desperate mother Chris (Ellen Burstyn) turns to doctors, psychiatrists, and finally the Catholic Church for answers. As Father Karras (Jason Miller) struggles with his own crisis of faith, he and Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) confront an ancient evil in one of the most terrifying battles between good and evil ever committed to film. William Friedkin’s 1973 masterpiece shattered the boundaries of mainstream horror, turning a story of demonic possession into a deeply unsettling drama about many things, but mostly…the nature of evil. From its unnerving sound design and groundbreaking makeup effects to unforgettable performances from its extraordinary cast, The Exorcist became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the defining horror films of the 20th century. Please note: we will be screening a 4K restoration of the 122 minute Theatrical Cut of the film!
