A celebrated play both on and off Broadway, True West is known for its intense performances and has featured actors including John Malkovich, Gary Sinise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, Tommy Lee Jones, and Peter Boyle. Playwright Sam Shepard is a Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama and the recipient of the Drama Desk Award and ten Obie Awards, and was called by The New Yorker “the greatest American playwright of his generation.”
