Join HCHS as we host Stephen Saupe who will present a fascinating look at the botany of Halloween. Discover the orgin, tradition, symbolism and significance of plants used for Halloween celebrations. Stephen is a retired professor (Emeritus) from the joint biology department of the College of St. Benedict and Saint John’s University. He taught courses in plant physiology, economic botany, plant systematics, and introductory biology. He has a small hobby farm where he raises an assortment of fruits, veggies and nuts (especially hazelnuts).
