Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company returns home to The Billie with its signature blend of grace, gravity, and grounded spiritual storytelling drawn from Brown's acclaimed repertory. The company integrates African dance with contemporary choreography, music, and spoken word. Brown shares a profound, deep-rooted artistic partnership with The Billie Holiday Theatre in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. A "son of Brooklyn," Brown founded EVIDENCE in 1985, and the company has become synonymous with deeply spiritual storytelling that connects audiences to the histories, traditions, and evolving expressions of the African Diaspora. He is one of the most visionary and prolific choreographers of his generation, with international acclaim on the world's great stages. His long-standing partnership with The Billie is a full-circle moment: from his first childhood dance classes on the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation campus to making his dance home in the same studios of his youth. The annual dance concert presents a curated evening of excerpts from the company's celebrated works, performed by EVIDENCE dancers.
