The Belle of Amherst

The Belle of Amherst

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to continue the 2026 season of its Sedona Professional Theatre Company with “The Belle of Amherst” live on stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre, running April 24-26. “The Belle of Amherst” — written by William Luce — stars Tarah Flanagan and is directed by Chris Mixon. “The Belle of Amherst” is a play based on the life of Emily Dickinson. In her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the reclusive nineteenth-century poet Emily Dickinson recollects her past through her work, her diaries and letters, and a few encounters with significant people in her life. William Luce’s classic play shows us both the pain and the joy of Dickinson’s secluded life. TARAH FLANAGAN Tarah Flanagan is a New York-based director, actor, and teaching artist. Recent directing credits include As You Like It, No Child, and An Iliad (Great River Shakespeare Festival), Christmas at Pemberley (Utah State University), and An Iliad (co-director) PCPA and the Cleveland Play House. Tarah adapted and co-produced The Yellow Wallpaper for Actors Theatre of Louisville, co-produced/choreographed Darwin the Series, directed by Carrie Preston, and served as the dialect coach for the world premiere of Imbroglio by Melissa Maxwell at the Great River Shakespeare Festival. Tarah is a graduate of Webster University (BFA) and the University of Alabama-Alabama Shakespeare Festival (MFA). She is a proud member of AEA and SDC. Season sponsors are Renee and Doug Leuthold and Chuck Marr. “The Belle of Amherst” will take the stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Friday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.
