Bruce McIntyre This class is designed for both those new to woodcarving and those with some experience. The class will begin with an introduction to carving concepts, different cuts, tool handling, nomenclature, and how to properly enter and finish each cut. The importance of wood grain will also be explored, including how it influences the carving process and the use of different tools. Participants will become familiar with carving gouges, veiners, V-paring tools, and fishtail chisels. Beginning with simple arcs using each tool, students will progress to basic shapes to develop skill and confidence. The class will explore carving flat leaves before progressing to more complex projects. There will also be an opportunity to refresh the bevel on carving tools and practice basic sharpening techniques. Whether new to woodcarving or looking to build on existing skills, this class offers an opportunity to explore the craft, develop technique, and discover the unique qualities of working with wood. 5-week series Sundays, 2pm – 4pm November 1 – November 29 Members $170 / Nonmembers $210
