The American St. Nick

Community Room. Join us for a amazing story of true holiday spirit! David Brookins will recount his father's involvement as "The American St. Nick" in this true and heartwarming story. It's December 1944 and the U.S. 28th Infantry Division has just liberated Wiltz, Luxembourg. However, the town's jubilation was tempered by the privation suffered under four years of Nazi occupation. The children suffered the most; even their celebration of St. Nicholas Day had been forbidden. A small group of young American soldiers, including one who had lived in Webster, decided to change that situation for the better. For the past eighty-two years, Wiltz has never forgotten this small act of kindness. Registration is required.
