This is a a free and open event - we’ll watch a video and learn together, then discuss our opinions. You’ll come away with a better understanding of AI and develop your own ideas about this transformational technology. You may have heard a lot about AI - everything from it curing disease and helping us build a better world to the opposite: introducing a dystopia. Regardless of where you stand, the decisions about how it’s built and who controls it are being made by a handful of people in a handful of companies as governments struggle to keep up. In this program, we’ll watch a video and learn about the AI race, the pressure that governments are facing, and how AI safety rules are loosening as development picks up. Then we’ll discuss: Who should get a say in how AI develops? What do communities gain or give up when Big Tech comes to town? What future does your community want?
