Join us for an in-person event, “The 1-2-3 of Emergency Preparedness”, presented by Chief Bruce Appell, Avon’s Director of Emergency Management/Fire Marshal/AVFD Fire Chief. 1. Personal Preparedness at Home Practical things you can do to be prepared if a natural or man-made disaster strikes, and overview of potential impacts to be prepared for. 2. Community Preparedness How the Town is set up to handle emergency events through Avon’s Emergency Operations Plan, Emergency Operations Center, Primary Shelter Location, Town Buildings and Staff. 3. What You Can Do To Help Your Community Considering volunteering? Ways to volunteer through the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, Avon’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and other local opportunities.
