About this event
Teen Space - Main Library. Discover the science behind Indigenous-inspired cooking as teens recreate recipes using ingredients connected to Native agriculture in Virginia. Along the way, participants will explore STEAM concepts such as chemical reactions, heat transfer, moisture evaporation, and cooking tools as technology while learning how Indigenous food systems and food-processing innovations combined engineering, sustainability, chemistry, and cultural knowledge. Teen STEAM allows teens to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics by working on hands-on projects that help them develop critical thinking skills, hone their creativity, practice working independently and collaboratively, as well as perform problem-solving through engaging projects.
