Teen STEAM: DIY Agate Coasters

Explore the rocks around us as we look at the beautiful, swirling world of agates. Agates are stunning, semi-precious gemstones formed inside ancient volcanic rock which are formed as mineral rich groundwater seeps into hollow rocks and depositing colorful minerals, resulting in swirling ribbons and vibrant rings of colors. Teens will explore how agates are formed and then make one of their own to take home. Teen STEAM allows teens to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics by working on hands-on projects that help them develop critical thinking skills, hone their creativity, practice working independently and collaboratively, as well as perform problem-solving through engaging projects.
