About this event

Teen Space - Main Library. Explore the sweet science and history of molasses pull candy. In this hands-on Black History Month program, teens will learn how molasses became an important ingredient in Black American foodways and southern confectionery. Participants will heat, cool, stretch, and shape their own candy while discovering how temperature, sugar crystallization, and aeration transform a sticky mixture into a light, chewy treat. Teen STEAM allows teens to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics by working on hands-on projects that help them develop critical thinking skills, hone their creativity, practice working independently and collaboratively, as well as perform problem-solving through engaging projects.
